7-Day Challenge – Daily Self Check-In – Day 5

Today is day 5 of the daily self check-in we’re doing this week & though I’m going to see this through until the end I would be remiss not to mention my deep sorrow and anger about what’s going on in the world right now. In fact it’s hard for me to talk about anything but. What happened in Georgia, the murder of Ahmaud Arbery, and what happened in Minneapolis, the murder of George Floyd is deplorable, and the sad thing is I could fill thousands of post with the names of fellow HUMANS who have been killed because of the color of their skin, or who they love, or what God they believe in. It’s disgusting that this is still happening in the year 2020, honestly it’s disgusting that it ever happened, but the fact that it’s still happening all these years after slavery, after the holocaust, WHY? 

WE HAVE TO DO BETTER PEOPLE! WHAT IN THE WORLD IS GOING ON? WAKE UP! ENOUGH ALREADY!  ⁠

Today, I want you to stop what you’re doing right now, take a deep breath, and ask… what can I do for my fellow humans? How can I help? How can I reach out? How can I let them know I care, I hear them, I see them, I support them, and I have their back? What do they need from me? Who can I reach out to make real change in this world?

These are all question I too am asking myself and I plan to do extensive research about what role I can play in ending of this deep hatred today!

I know it’s cheesy, but all I can think of are these lyrics from the Pink Floyd song, “On the Turning Away:”

“Just a world that we all must share
It’s not enough just to stand and stare
Is it only a dream that there’ll be
No more turning away?”

The turning away must end today!

I’ll leave you with this poem from the beloved Nelson Mandela, “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”

7-Day Challenge – Daily Self Check-In – Day 3

Today is day 3 of the “7-Day Daily Self Check-In Challenge.” I’m doing this every day this week to help you remember to check in with yourself. A little self-inquiry reminder. So right now, I want you to stop whatever you’re doing and take a few deep breaths. Now ask yourself, how do I feel right now? Am I feeling any physical pain? Am I tense, tight? What about my emotions and feelings? Do I feel calm & collected, scattered, sad, anxious? What can I do right now to take care of myself? ⁠

⁠My mindfulness tip for today is to move your body. Move any physical or emotional stress, anxiety & tension out of your body via any type of movement that resonates with you. Movement is incredibly healing and we hold a lot of stress & tension in our bodies. We also hold a lot of emotional pain in our bodies as well. If you can’t do this exercise right now save this post for later and give it a try.

7-Day Challenge – Daily Self Check-In – Day 2

This is day 2 of the daily self check-in we’re doing this entire week. I’m here to help you remember to check in with yourself, both physically & mentally, to see how you’re feeling today and to assess what you need to do for yourself so you can be more mindful, healthy and happy. 

⁠So stop what you’re doing right now, take a deep breath, and ask yourself, how am I? How do I feel? What do I need? ⁠

⁠Today’s mindfulness tip is to breath it out! Deep breathing is the most underrated stress & anxiety reliever of all time, lol 😂 and it works so well. I’d love for you to try this right now. If you can’t do it right now save this post and come back to it later. I promise it will make you feel better. ⁠

⁠Just do 3 quick breaths and then you can carry on with your day. Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth…⁠

⁠Inhale, exhale…⁠
Inhale, exhale…⁠
One more time, Inhale, exhale.⁠
